In 2003 we developed an innovative way to obtain location. Using Wi-Fi signals would be faster, more precise and battery-friendly than GPS and cell-towers alone. We foresaw the mass adoption and proliferation of mobile technology that would make our idea useful for every device on the planet. We got to work on collecting the locations of billions of Wi-Fi access points worldwide and building the infrastructure and software to deliver the information.
Skyhook’s massive global network powers billions of location requests in all of the places that they happen. Our customers include giants like Apple, Samsung, Sony and Mapquest. Our coverage is monumental and constantly growing. We exist to make location faster, more precise and practical and have teams dedicated to research and development, support and getting our message in the hands of everyone who can use our technology.
Our Context Accelerator radically simplifies harnessing the full power of a user’s location data to deliver frictionless, vital mobile experiences or the most relevant content. Context Accelerator is highly respectful of privacy and fits easily into almost any development stack.
