This Fall, Symbian, Tagggit and GadgetTrak have all partnered up with Skyhook for precise, reliable, consumer-ready location.
Symbian, the leading supplier of smartphone operating systems, will support WPS in Symbian OS version 9.5. This collaboration will allow device manufacturers and application developers to offer better location-based services to customers.
Tagggit, a social network where users can tag people and places, is also using Skyhook’s technology in a new Beta version. Skyhook location is available within Tagggit’s City Mode, and makes tagging your favorite restaurants and finding new friends easy. The company is hoping to change the way people in cities connect and share. Tagggit is available for download today.
GadgetTrak provides a laptop anti-theft software. GadgetTrak recently announced the release of MacTrak, Skyhook-enabled tracking software for MAC OS X laptops. MacTrak will detect a thief’s location when the laptop connects to the internet. In addition, the laptop will take a picture of the perpetrator and upload his location, network information and photo to Flickr, while simultaneously sending an e-mail to the owner.
