BOSTON – April 25, 2006 – Skyhook Wireless, provider of the industry’s first Wi-Fi based positioning system, today announced its has been included in the March 15, 2006 “Cool Vendors in Mobile and Wireless, 2006” Gartner report written by Monica Basso, research vice president, et al.

Skyhook Wireless provides a software-only positioning system that leverages a nationwide database of known Wi-Fi access points to calculate the precise location of any Wi-Fi enabled device. Its Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS) is the first indoor-outdoor positioning system that utilizes Wi-Fi rather than GPS or cell towers, to accurately pinpoint location.
