Skyhook Wireless Delivers Upgraded Location SDK with Targeted Ads from Integration with Quattro Wireless

Includes Enhanced Functionality and Expanded Platform Support

BOSTON, MA - May 6, 2008 Skyhook Wireless, provider of the Wi-Fi Positioning System, today announced an upgrade to the Skyhook Software Development Kit (SDK). Immediately available, the SDK now includes location targeted advertising to provide mobile application developers with a built-in revenue source. Skyhook has also expanded the functionality of the SDK, adding Virtual GPS to ease WPS development, and flexible new deployment modes that optimize the WPS for any type of LBS application.

Location-Targeted Advertising

Distribution and revenue models for mobile applications are ambiguous, and application developers struggle to monetize their applications. Responding to these challenges, Skyhook has integrated highly targeted location-based advertising from Quattro Wireless, an industry leader in bringing content creators, advertisers and wireless operators together to cultivate opportunities in the mobile web space, into the upgraded Skyhook SDK. When developers implement WPS location, they can immediately start generating revenue via location-based ads embedded in their mobile applications. The Skyhook SDK with ads from Quattro Wireless is available today.

"Skyhook and Quattro Wireless are pioneering the challenge of connecting with users and providing them with highly targeted ads based on their location, delivering mobile advertising in a powerful new way," said Andy Miller, CEO of Quattro Wireless. "In addition, Quattro Wireless' platform will enable publishers to optimize campaigns in real-time through the use of Quattro Wireless' reporting and management tools."

New Functionality with Virtual GPS and Optional Deployment Modes

Developing mobile applications across fragmented platforms and devices can be time consuming and expensive. Virtual GPS, a new feature of the Skyhook SDK, simplifies the implementation of WPS into applications already supporting GPS. Developers of GPS-enabled applications can now simply plug into the WPS engine using the NMEA standard interface with no additional code changes.

The upgraded Skyhook SDK allows for WPS customization based on the specific needs of various LBS applications that access location technology in different ways. Developers can choose the Push-to-Fix deployment mode for on demand location, or Continuous Scanning mode for navigation and other applications that require constant location awareness. Developers can now also choose WPS Tiling mode as an efficient way to provide autonomous WPS location.

"Mobile application development is costly and resource intensive," said Pete Tenereillo, CEO of Tenereillo, Inc., developers of the hit WPS-enabled mobile application Trapster.com. "Having the ability to start generating advertising revenue through our application is a great option for us."

Skyhook Wireless was founded in 2003 to capitalize on the growth of Wi-Fi and the emerging market for location-based services. Most mobile devices lack native positioning systems or rely on technologies that struggle in urban areas and indoors. As a software-only system, WPS addresses these issues by offering the highest indoor availability and the best overall urban reliability of any existing location platform. Application developers can access the full capabilities of WPS through the Skyhook SDK.

Expanded Platform Support

The Skyhook SDK now supports Windows VistaTM, Windows XPTM, Windows MobileTM 5 and 6, Mac OS XTM, Symbian S60TM, and various Linux platforms including Maemo. WPS coverage includes over 40 million access points across North America, Europe, and Asia. Developers can download the SDK today at http://www.skyhookwireless.com/developers/sdk.php
